What do I do?

Yet another good question. I've done many things in my life. I've worked in a tax office, as a payroll accountant, thankfully briefly but memorably as a taxidermist's assistant (that's another way of saying, "I skinned dead birds"), as a tarot reader in one of the most prestigious tearooms in New Orleans, and most recently I did a six month stint in the wonderful world of technical support. When attending college, I never could make up my mind as to what I really wanted to do, so I have quite a few credits that could go towards a degree in education, psychology, or liberal arts. I am currently enrolled at Saint Leo University via their online degree program and working on a computer degree with a focus on business.

But main, right now, I write. I write shortstories, primarily, but I have started work on my first novel. I am also co-authoring a book with Robert Sloan, author of Raven Dance and working with him on Launchpad, an anthology of shortstories primarily designed to help new writers in sci-fi, fantasy, and horror show us what they can do, though it will also feature stories by already published authors. A selection of my articles as well as a few shortstories can be found at www.writtenbyme.com.

I've also been known to dabble in various hobbies. I do a bit of leatherwork, mostly making toys for my husband and myself and presents for friends. I enjoy role-playing games of many types. My favorite system is GURPS due to it's amazing adaptability, though the new 3rd Edition D&D rules have been fun to play with recently, and generated yet another hobby: miniatures painting. That's a wierd one, trust me. I also draw and am currently experimenting with anime/hentai styles. For some examples of this and my other artwork, click here. However, be warned that what I mostly draw are nudes. There'll be a nice warning screen you have to click through just to cover my butt legally, sorry about that. Other interests include painting, occultism, bdsm, dream analysis, psychology, poetry, herbalism, computers, computer games, online comic strips, cats, and of course, reading anything I can get my hands on.

I've been married for nine years and we have two children, Jaime, our six year old son, and Shali, our daughter who just turned four. Needless to say, much of what I do is play with the children. Here's a picture, aren't they cute?

Told you they were cute, didn't I? Check out their pages above for more info on my little angels.

One final thing: I have fibromyalgia. It's not a hobby, or even something I do. It does me, really. Fibro is an extremely painful, irritatingly hard to diagnose, and occasionally treatable but not curable disease. It's neither contagious nor fatal, but it won't go away, either. This means that while I might *like* to add rock-climbing, sky-diving, weight-training, and other physically demanding activities to my list, it's not likely to happen. Nor am I likely to ever work at a "normal" job again. At the moment, I'm making miniscule amounts of money with my writing, and hope to increase that in the future. Fortunately, I married a professional computer geek who is ever so good at what he does, and thus we can afford my medicine and my internet connection and all is well. If you've ever experienced chronic pain, exhaustion, sleep disorders, and nasty stomach troubles for long periods of time and been told by doctors that, "It's all in your head," "You're just depressed," or "All that's wrong with you is your weight, lose 20lbs and you'll be fine," they you might want to check out my fibro page.
